Education

I received my BA in Spanish Language and Literature from Skidmore College in 2014, where I completed a thesis in which I translated selected works of an as of yet untranslated Spanish poet. I was the recipient of the Sonja P. Karsen Prize for excellence in Spanish.

Experience

I recently spent a year teaching children in 3rd to 6th grade in Spain. I have experience tutoring children of any age and level of Spanish. I enjoy working with kids and sharing my knowledge. I am kind and patient and I know when a child has lost interest or doesn't understand. While in college, I spent a year studying at a Spanish university, where I took my classes completely in Spanish. While learning a language might seem unattainable to a struggling student, with some extra help it can become a delight and a life skill that opens up a world of opportunities. I also spent time working in a children's museum, so I know how to keep kids interested and learning with fun games and activities.

I like to read and play tennis in my free time. I also love making origami and jewelry. I enjoy poetry of all kinds and I love learning new languages. I speak Spanish, some French, a bit of Portuguese and Italian, and I am currently learning German.
